JAA ATPL (JAA Approved)

The course material has been compiled specifically for home study with comprehensive, easily readable text, extensive worksheets for self-testing, and progress tests for the required assessments throughout the course.

The course is operated in a pro-active manner and our telephone, fax or e-mail should be the first contact if candidates have any problems. Our telephone service extends to out of working hours and at weekends

Course Details:

The Distance Learning course is designed to be completed in two Modules each consisting of a period of home study followed by a 9 or 10 day classroom consolidation course prior to the JAA examinations.

Module 1:

In this module the following subjects are studied

General Navigation
Radio navigation
Meteorology
Air law
Human performance & Limitations
VFR/IFR Communications

Satisfactory completion of the coursework is followed by a 10 day consolidation at our school at Bournemouth International Airport.

Module 2:

In this module the following subjects are studied:

Airframes, Systems, Powerplant and Electrics
Instrumentation and Electronics
Performance
Mass & Balance

Flight Planning & Monitoring
Principles of Flight
Operational procedures

Satisfactory completion of the coursework is followed by a further 9 day consolidation course.

Course Entry Requirements - ATPL Distance Learning Course

Minimum age to commence training 17 years
Minimum licence requirements to commence - PPL (issued in accordance with ICAO Annex 1)
Medical requirements - the student is advised to obtain a JAA Class 1 medical certificate before commencing training
Minimum academic standard - the student should have an adequate knowledge of mathematics, physics, and English language (UK GCSE or equivalent). If required a pre-course assessment and follow-up assistance can be provided. For students who wish to have additional English language training, suitable courses can be arranged, please call for advice or further information.

Credit for Previous Training

The holder of a JAA CPL(A)/IR may be credited with 300 hours of study time
The holder of a JAA CPL may be credited with 200 hours of study time
The holder of a JAA IR may be credited with 200 hours of study time
Pilots holding an ICAO ATPL with at least 500 hours experience on multi-pilot aeroplanes may be permitted to undertake the degree of training necessary at the discretion of the training provider


Course Costs

The total cost of the course is £1806 (including VAT) may be spread over the four phases of the course. Most credit cards are accepted. Cheques should be made payable to Ground Training Services Ltd.
